Andreas Neef

Andreas Neef's expertise is on climate change adaptation and mitigation, post-disaster response and recovery, land grabbing, and development-induced displacement. He is a Professor in Development Studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Andreas Neef has extensive research experience in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and is the New Zealand partner in two research projects in Eastern Indonesia. He leads several collaborative research projects on disaster risk management in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. He is also involved in a research project on the disaster resilience of Southeast Asian communities in Auckland under the National Science Challenge Programme. He served twice as scientific adviser to the German parliament. He was previously employed as Professor of Resource Governance and Participatory Development at the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University.
