Robert Patman
Robert G. Patman is a Professor of International Relations and an Inaugural Sesquicentennial Distinguished Chair (2019) at the University of Otago. He is a former HOD of the Department of Politics.
He is also the author or editor of twelve scholarly books. He previously served as co-editor for the Praeger Series on The Ethics of American Foreign Policy, and as an editor for the journal International Studies Perspectives. Publications include a single authored volume called Strategic Shortfall: The ‘Somalia Syndrome’ and the March to 9/11 (Santa Barbara: Praeger, 2010) and co-edited books Science Diplomacy: New Day or False Dawn? (Singapore: World Scientific Publishing, 2015) and New Zealand and the World: Past, Present and Future (Singapore: World Scientific Publishing, 2018).
He is a Fulbright Senior Scholar, Honorary Professor to the New Zealand Defence Force Command and Staff College, Trentham, and provides regular contributions to the national and international media on global issues and events.
