From tangled political families to the basics of Chinese or Asian name structures, here's what you were reading on the Asia Media Centre this year. We've highlighted some of our most-read articles and loosely grouped them for a bit of summer reading.
Political dynasties of Asia
In some democracies around the world, political family dynasties are inescapable. Families who have been interwoven with the political world throughout a country’s history leave their mark on the system – and the people they govern.
Earlier this year, we kicked off a short series looking at some of these dynasties in Asia. They certainly caught your eyes, with a history of dynasties in the Philippines being one of our most-read stories this year. Elections
2023 was a big year for elections in some parts of Asia – and here in Aotearoa too. The Thailand election was a rollercoaster to watch, as political wrangling and court action drew the election process far past voting day. Our coverage and commentary from experts were popular reads:
